![]() ![]() It's just that I don't see enough comments or reviews online where people talk about sequencing with PT. Even when I used the first mBox "MANY" years ago, I could get great sequenced results from midi tracks with the Kurzweil K2000 I had at the time, and RTAS plug-ins.Īll of the plug-ins I own are completely AAX compatible, and I don't see myself ever running out of midi tracks in PT to not complete full orchestral mockups. I'm just really curious, because it seems like "soo" many people act as if PT CAN'T accomplish sequencing, or doesn't have full midi functions, and is only good for mixing audio tracks. ![]() Most other DAWs, IMO, are way more complicated to learn than PT initially. I don't think too many people would have a hard time figuring out PT if they've used it before. The layout of PT wouldn't be a problem for me to acclimate to, even though I've been using Cubase for some time now. My plan, if I do this, would be to sell my license of Cubase 7 to someone on eBay, or wherever, and then use as much of that money as possible to buy a legit license of PT 11/12 Native to use solely as my DAW. I'm just wondering if it's more than capable of handling full orchestral/hybrid midi mock-ups before mixing, the same as Cubase that I use now? Or is PT still only comfortable enough for just mixing audio? Now, and I could be wrong, but it seems like things are A LOT better for midi sequencing with PT. It's just that it's midi at the time was rudimentary to me, compared to Logic or Digital Performer. And there was always a part of me that just liked how simple and straight forward PT always was to use. I have experience using PT from many, many years ago. So, my question is this: currently in 2016, does PT 11/12 have midi functions advanced enough for me to solely sequence professional mock-ups using just PT for sequencing and then mixing, and nothing else? I'm seriously liking the way PT looks now, and I'm kind of thinking of ditching Cubase all together. The only thing I can really think that I do midi wise with Cubase is Midi CC for Modulation, Velocity, and then automated mixing for audio tracks. And my go to Waves plug-ins for mixing, as well as Slate VCC. And of course importing video to sync to picture.įor my libraries, 95% of my compositions are based off of all the VSL Special Edition libraries, Kontakt 4 full ver. I then bounce them all down to their own. Each individual bowing/articulation on its' own midi channel. So the way I have my Cubase orchestral template setup is the "old-school" way. Which I have additional projects lined up in the near future. My primary focus professionally has been film scoring. ![]() For the past 10 years, I've been using at first Nuendo 3, and now for years Cubase 7. I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit, with 16gig RAM. Let me explain in more detail for you all. Okay, I'm really hoping for a couple of factual opinions about my topic. ![]()
